thierry laurent
Hi guys, I just got a Do 27 for a dozen of euros. I had a look at the kit and was quite positively surprised by the contents. Nonetheless, I was completely puzzled when I looked at the sprues before checking the instructions. Indeed, I found a copy of one sprue from the... F-14 Tomcat! Revell added that full sprue just to use the front tires on the Dornier wheels! At last, this gives me some alternate parts for my Tomcat kits! Tony T
Yes, you get the seats, nose pod and plastic tyres. Is this anything to do with a recent Do 27 kit having the big safari wheels, which might have destroyed the original wheel moulds (?¿) http://www.modellversium.de/kit/artikel.php?id=8031 Tony Edited August 26, 2019 by Tony T to activate link
Iain
I feel left out now - I have an initial release of this kit somewhere - no F-14 parts (at least, that I remember!). Iain
rafju
Thierry this is a new "low cost" Revell choice to represent the main wheels In the original release #4792 from 1989 (ouch!!) there were vinyls tires. Nice kit. Edited August 26, 2019 by rafju
thierry laurent
OK ! This explains that! The original kit with the Bundesluftwaffe markings had vinyl/rubber tires and for whatever reason Revell decided to look after a plastic replacement option when they re-released the kit with the civilian markings (Seregenti safari version). Thanks for your help in solving that mysterious presence of Tomcat parts in a Dornier plane kit.
