Interesting places in Bucharest???????

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I'm spending the next few days (till Sunday) in Bucharest and am interested in some modelling related tips.

The thing that I'm gonna visit is the Bucharest International Air Show, and hopefully the National Military Museum.

Are there any other interesting places, like modelshops?

All kinds of information is welcome!

With regards,

Rob

P.S. I've learned that the air show isn't as spectacular as it used to be (only Romanian Mig 21 Lancers, F16's and a Hungarian Gripen) due to budget problems, but I will upload some modern fighters!

Bucharest is a great city and there is plenty to see and do there.

- Go to Muzeul Militar National (National Military Museum) here: https://goo.gl/maps/PXvwBd8RiYghh4fr8 The main building hosts exhibits about the military history of Romania. Outside at the back there is an open air display with AFV, Transports, Artillery, Missiles, etc. On the other side of this open air display there is a hangar with aircraft and a building housing the uniforms and weapons collection.

- Go to Muzeul Aviatiei here: https://goo.gl/maps/7wcsAwZFVRT6aNTM8 (the entrance is actually here: https://www.google.com/maps/@44.4756758,26.1077984,47m/data=!3m1!1e3 ) There are some nice aicraft on display in the open and in some hangars.

- There is a good hoby shop here: https://goo.gl/maps/7e58Y5aWTRN1j64PA

- There are good places to eat and drink. The "Old City" has turned into a bit of a tourist trap, but I like to go to Caru cu Bere (The Beer Cart) in that area. It is a very touristy restaurant, but you can try some Romanian cuisine and beer in "pre-war" fabulous surroundings. https://goo.gl/maps/2zWKjnpS6kwbWYh18

Have fun!

The city in general is pretty cool. The Palace of Parliament is huge! Last time I was there there were several old Migs parked at the airport. I can't recall what model they were.

Constanta is a really fun place to go also if you have time. It's a bit of a boring drive to get too though.

If I ever get back there again I want to go to Transylvania

Hi all,

Thanks for replying!

I guess we are lucky to be shown around in Bucharest by a colleague of mine, and will be visiting an ex-colleague who's working in the Palace of Parliament.

My colleague knew about the Military Meseum, but not the Air Force Museum. So, depending on the wifes plans, we might be lucky to escape a half day carrying shopping bags

Ill keep you updated!!!!!

Rob
