I'm hoping it all fits well and the new nose grafts on nicely as well when it comes to the glue, I've put a fair bit of effort in to this one so far and hoping to get a really nice looking early 109 from it. monthebiff Posted November 1, 2019 Author Share Posted November 1, 2019 So have managed to get the basic colours on the fuselage sub assemblies followed by a gloss coat in readiness for decals and weathering. As well as the wheel well sub assemblies Difficult to interpret colours from b/w pictures and so have had a best guess as well as cross referencing with other colour cockpit pictures. Regards. All a bit of an unnecessary awkward fit but got there in the end. And this is how my masking tape/ archer resin canvas covers turned out. Pretty happy with the results to be honest but planning on adding a little more weathering. Regards. Pretty happy with how things turned out but with some of the added extras its going to be a bit of a careful squeeze getting the three sub assemblies together. Regards. monthebiff Posted November 13, 2019 Author Share Posted November 13, 2019 Thank you for your comments everyone and this build is still very much on the work bench next to my Zuokei Mura Hs-129 I have started, made some important progress this afternoon and fitted the cockpit tub after remembering to dirty the seat belts, thank you for reminding me Max!! Then it was time to close the fuselage halves which was a pretty tricky job due to extra details addedand parts moves on the sidewalls I think rather than the kit itself. After much swearing and cursing this is where I am up to. All in all very happy with the results and pleased to get the fuselage halves together, now comes the really interesting bit of getting the wing assemble fitted and everything mating nicelt to the new resin nose section. monthebiff Posted January 23, 2022 Author Share Posted January 23, 2022 Cant believe it's been so long since I last did some proper work on this build, I put this one on the back-burner when I encountered major wing fit issues which caused a serious lack of dihedral more akined to a Hurricane than a 109! This is the second time I have had a look and decided if I couldn't sort it this time it was heading for the bin. After a couple of hours work last night I finally realised the issues and had the wing nicely in position followed by the resin nose today. The problem was caused by the major wing modifications in removing the radiators and forward nose piece leaving a very flimsy part so when it all came together the rear of the wing fillet was very tight causing the dihedral to disappear when fitted in place. Lots of sanding/ trimming and now all ok. Really pleased I have managed to overcome this problem as I have put so much work in to the correcting the cockpit to a B spec as well as my work on the canvas covers in the wheel wells it would have been gutting to have had to bin it.
