mgbooyv8
Hi guys, It took some time to update this WIP, life got in the way. In the meantime, thanks to Thor and Bart, I was able to finish the engine and firewall with piping and cabling. It is now ready to be mounted on the model. Here are the pictures: I plan to add the flexible baffles later, I have to make sure everything will fit in the engine cowling. To be honest, not all wiring was included, aiming for e representative busy look. However, all oil lines and air hoses for carburettor heat and heating are present. Speaking of the latter, when the cowling will be fitted, additional air hoses will be neded to connect air intake and heater intake to the engine. There was only one spring available in the kit, so I made my own by wrapping lycra biplane rigging thread around suitable plastic tubing, fixing it with CA, painting it orange and giving it a wash with Tamiya Smoke: I think I can make two suitable air hoses out of it. Amazing. mgbooyv8 and KiwiZac
mgbooyv8
A late answer, Maru, but many thanks for the compliment! Life was busy, so progress on the Fuji was very, very slow. In the mean time, I made new flap hinges from plastic strip, because most of the original ones were broken off: The upper ones are the new ones. They were primed and painted, together with the main landing gear fairings (no pictures, not so interesting). This weekend, these parts were glued onto the wings. Starboard wing: And the port wing: The flap hinges are temporary connected with metal wire. As a final solution, the same wire will be used, wit a resin bolt and nut at each side, conform the original. Both halves of the main landing gear fairings were held in place with a clothes peg until the glue had set. Note that some vinyl tubing, supplied in the kit, is added as a hydraulic brake line, as shown in the instructions. Before I add the wheels, these fairings will have to be neatened. mgbooyv8
Hi guys, Again a small update. The seams of the main landing gear fairings were neatened. After fruitless attemps to touch-up the paint invisibly with hairy stick, more drastic measures were needed. Masking and respraying with Tamiya white: The black rubber sealings will be painted after the Tamiya paint has hardened out. While this lot was drying I connected the flap hinges permanently with metal wire and Meng resin bolts Thank you Max (@Mozart) for the tip! Here is an example: They will be painted a metal colour. Soon the engine will be mated to the fuselage. That also means I had to make the cold carburettor air intake funnel into the cowling, because it is not represented in the kit: It is barely visible in this crappy picture. When the time comes, the funnel will be connected to the carburettor intake with an orange air hose, which is already prepared. But the engine cowlings will have to be painted on the inside first.
