I just returned from vacationing in Corolla, North Carolina and had a short opportunity to stop by this Museum:

https://militaryaviationmuseum.org/

on my way to Norfolk Airport to drop off my daughter so she could take a flight back to Chicago.  So I took some pictures with my iPhone.  I hope they are helpful, or interesting.  There are many.

PBY-5A  This is a unique configuration for a PBY-5A.  The Docent said this is the configuration in which the aircraft was built.  There were no civilian modifications.

I can't place the rudder.

Some folks are building Fokkers.  All WWI aircraft are replicas, except the Jenny, which I didn't 'photograph', as my time was short.

Thank you for the photos!

What is the history of both Fw ?

Also the collection of LW projects is crazy! Are they full scale or smaller?

The first one is the "Flying Panzerfaust". It was to be towed to altitude by a ´109, then the rockets fired to propel the tiny craft against oncoming bombers. After firing its load of rocket propelled grenades the nose is separated and the pilot parachutes and is ready for another mission! Any volunteers?

Alain, I was running out of time by the time the group went into the Luftwaffe hanger.  I didn't have a chance to read the signage.  By the way, the photos are posted in reverse order that they were taken.  It's just the way they were uploaded to the cloud.

I like the Flak 36 as well.  A real mean device.

A couple of folks are building a Fokker, so I loaded up for them.  Hope they're helpful, and that you like red.

These next few I'm trying to show the tape configuration.

It must have been 110 degrees in this hanger.  It's about here when my phone slipped from my hand due to perspiration and fell into the cockpit.

A good friend of mine works at that museum as a tour guide from time to time since he is retired now.  It's a wonderful place and I think he enjoys it more so than the visitors, lol.

Anyway, almost all the odd Luftwaffe project planes are full size originals.  I think only a couple may be replicas, but I will have to ask.  It's all owned by some rich guy who loves flying.  There is a small airstrip next door to the museum that they use quite a lot.  They also do several special functions during holidays.  It's worth a trip if you ever in the Va Beach area.

I really need to get my hands on the Dragon kit of the '88 again; had one, sold it, now I want it again (the story of my life).

Working at Aero Union (P-3 Tankers) years ago in Chico, Calif. kid in tool room mentioned his German Grandfather was some gun operator.

I loaned him my Dragon 88 kit and he not only signed the lid with "Freefire!" in german, he placed copies of photos of him and the Berlin battery

he ran. It has the wooden surround encasement.

I really enjoyed seeing the 88mm Flak here.

Their gun set is parts of a complete set with the generator and searchlight. The gun is also at least partially functional since they fired blanks through it several times at their "Warbirds Over the Beach" airshow I attended about 5 years ago.

Great museum and even better airshows (warbirds in the spring, and WWI in the fall). If you have the means, make plans to go!
