SimonCornes
I’m after some opinion please. As the PCM kit of the XIV is becoming hard to get hold of there are 2 conversion options - AA or Grey Matter. Which is best? I have an AA conversion and it’s cheaper than the Grey Matter alternative but is the GM one better? I’m interested to know what you think! Thanks Edited June 19, 2019 by SimonCornes

Thanks I would say neither because both sets really 'look' hand sculpted, OK I've only got the cowling set for the Revell MK 24 at the moment but it was produced from the original data and CNC machined out, to have that manufactured look. I reckon the firewall frame no.5 is probably not that much out on the Revell/Matchbox kit. Graham
Out2gtcha
I used RB Productions/WB Productions conversion, and if you can still find one anywhere, I thought it made a fine model in the end. nmayhew, Kagemusha, MikeC and 1 other
nmayhew
yep that's the one I have - hand made it certainly does *not* look the finish on it is pretty damn good i plan on using it with a Revell IX in a "if I f*ck it up I've only blown a £25 kit" kind of project lol MikeC

One possible problem besides finding the conversion kit is that is was designed for the PCM Spitfire kit. It takes some work but can be made to fit the Tamiya kit. SimonCornes
I am feeling inclined to go down the Grey Matter route but to go for a Mk 18 instead then I’ll know the answer and have another mark!
seiran01
Graham, any chance you’d do a griffin cowl to fit the Tamiya Spit? BloorwestSiR

SimonCornes
I’ve changed my mind, just to be contrary. I will go for the AA conversion as that includes the recesses for the wing radiators and at £30 plus postage, it’s a very good deal! MikeC
All useful stuff, but what mark of Spit ever had a Griffin engine? I know of several had a Rolls-Royce Griffon ... nmayhew and BloorwestSiR 1

Graham Any chance we can have both options? One with and one without the engine? Looks like in going to have to stock up on Tamiya Spitfires again.
