Good news for flight simmers

Recommended Posts

Is this for PC or X-box?   No interest if it's X-Box but if it's on the PC and it's open to third party mods and add-on's, I'm in.  Graphics look amazing.

wonder how munch memory it will take up

I'm sure it's going to be a resource hog, given the graphics seen above.   I'm just hoping it's going to offer accurate flight models and avionics.   Got a feeling this may not be the case but we'll see.

Meh, I'm having too much fun with IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad, Kuban or Moscow. The graphics aren't as good as those shown but I'll believe they are that good when I actually see them on screen.

These are pics from Microsoft's demo at E3 (link to the video in the first post), and funnily enough Microsoft had to keep on emphasing that it was genuine in-game footage and not something else.

True, you're going to need a beefy rig to get it to look this good but from what I saw it makes Il-2's graphics look like they're made with crayon.

I wonder if it will work on a Mac?

I asked, and they're not making a Mac-specific version so you'll either have to have a dual-boot system or run it in a VM.

MS just released a very cool video that shows off some of the flight modeling and also some very stunning graphics.  Be quite interested in what type of machine is needed to run at this resolution.   My faithful old WIN7 PC is going to be put out to pasture next year once MS stops supporting WIN7 and I want to get a new one that can handle some of these games.

Only other concern I have is whether the aftermarket community will embrace this new product.  The reason why the old FS lasted so long wasn't due to anything MS did, it was due to the thousands of quality products released for others.   I still have good memories of "flying" my PMDG 737 up and down the US East Coast using some wonderful ATC, high res airport and scenery add-ons.   Good stuff!

Enjoy!

From what I’ve heard, the world model is online so you have to stream the graphics because of storage and processor speed issues. So to take advantage of it you’ll need unlimited super fast broadband rather than a big computer

Ugh, that's just stupid :BANGHEAD2:

I wonder too what the association with XBox means? Is that just Microsoft's gaming department, or is it being developed for the console too? I hope that's not the case.

Currently running XPlane 11 on a Gleim sim and whilst the flight dynamics dont feel at all realistic, they're still better than FSX. Interesting to see what the new Flight Sim can bring to the table.
