F2H-3/4 Big Banjo

Small progress.

I have been scribing and riveting this week. Not easy over white plastic and hard to photograph.

However you can see something else. I have made 8 pylons....wow!

And a little work on the tip tanks. It took a lot of fiddling to get them right and symmetrical. Also I had to carve out a wingtip sized hole so that they fit correctly.

And a smear of bondo on the bottom side to fill out the underside of the wingtip fairing.

I have finished scribing and have had a chance to get some white primer on the underside. I will be re-scribing and re-riveting any areas that need it. Also you can see the installed pylons.

I have wet sanded the underside and will begin pre-shading in the coming days.

Wow she is really looking good now - F2H-3/4 is the best looking version in my opinion - always liked the VF11 Red Rippers or RCN colour scheme's

CJP

This will be finished in the livery of VF-64 with red and white stripes on the tail.

Work continues,  slowly getting ready for paint.

My chosen markings will be for VF-64 in grey over white. I have several photo's of these aircraft but they are all black and white. Here is my dilemma I am not sure what color the tail stripes are. According to different sources they are either red, orange, or yellow.

Anyone have some definitive thoughts on which would be correct?

A little painting in the past few days.

I have preshaded  the lower portion of the aircraft. I used a dark grey to add some tonal variation to the white undersurface. I have also highlighted the panel lines with a black marker.

A little work on the front gear.

Main gear. This got a little wonky because I did not attach the wing correctly. I have attached it too high on the fuselage and in order to compensate I had to make the main gear longer.

Gloss white has been applied.

Wow, that looks amazing Dan! I go away for a few days and it really came together

Thanks Brian. You know.....you didn't  just go away for a few days.....you went away for a few days and got married!  Good luck and all the best.
