oh my goodness, i love watching your builds come together and this one is exceptional

I have a couple question (i actually have hundreds but better not),

At the start of the build you spent a lot of time painting and fading a white base on the fuselage, why did you do that if you then put the decals on?

Are the Gaspacth turnbuckels 1/32 or the 1/48?

Great work and keep the build coming i love them

Oh come on, this is an insane level of modelling skill. Not sure which part to rave about because it is all amazing.

Hope your recovery continues at pace so that you can start flying again soon.

Incredible work. Had to have the same shoulder surgery done as you, it wasn't fun. At least it was on my left arm, so I could still function using my dominant hand.

Can't wait to see the Albatros all done up. Spectacular like all your work.

Karim,

Glad to hear the shoulder is improving.

Nice to see you back at the Albatros as well, great modelling as usual.

I never did get to email Alex about the Barnyard decals, have to do that here soon.

I did buy some of the new Proper Plane wood decals. They are nice, a little to dark for my taste for an Albatros DV fuselage, but would be fine for other builds; ie Felixstowe, Alb BII, etc.

Keep up the great work & good luck with the rehab.

Larry

Hi Rob

sorry for the delay in answering as life has been super hectic and i just got back to fit status and i am back flying...

I spent all this effort and time on paint and fading the fuselage as the UVDR decals as translucent and everything you do on the base layer shows through. That is the great thing about Uschi's decals they are not solid opaque and you can play around with the underlying base colors to get the preweathering into the finish. Of course this will require further weathering on top once you seal the decals in should you want to do that!

The turnbuckles are 1/32

thanks for stopping by and leaving a message!

Hi

Excellent job, a small correction ,the GasPatch still produce all the metal Turnbuckles and resins also

Best regards

Costas

Hi Costas

That's new for me i thought they had move only to resin from what i noticed on their website. i am glad though they still produce the metal ones as they are quite tough and resistant !

Let me start with a big thank you everyone for your well wishes and for taking the time to leave such kind words after my last update.

I have been quite busy with life on a professional and personal level.

After three months of constant and heavy physiotherapy i have been able to go back to almost my previous level of mobility and i have now been deemed fit to resume flying duties so i am back in the simulator since yesterday and have my license renewal to finish and tomorrow i am back flying on the line.

On a professional level modeling wise has been very busy too with building a kit for a magazine and more importantly the launch of ALM Studios.

ALM Studios is an international collaborative scale modeling studio made up of a bunch of really talented modelers (of which the least is me!), some of which are on LSP. We have all been friends for many years, some of those friendships have started online but we have all been getting together the past years at shows and in day to day life and decided to embark on that journey together. My team mate and cofounder, who's an IT specialist, and me, have been working around the clock the past 3 months to design the website and the suite that comes with it and we have finally launched on the 25th of June.  This coincided with the participation of Imad Bou Antoun, our ALM Studios team mate and friend, at Malaysia scale model MALCOM 2019 with him giving a workshop there and judging for the diorama categories. If you would like to encourage us you can either like us on the ALM Studios facebook page or just visiting our website

Now back to our regular programming. As some of you know, working on a project for someone else does sometimes come with the nasty side effect of you not having any 'enjoyment' working on the subject. Well at this time i am sort of at that point on the said kit so between simulator sessions i decided to put back my princess on the bench and push on with the top wing which is basically our last big hurdle before bringing everything together and installing the little details...

The Top wing was painted with MRP paints, pre shaded, post shaded, blended and i have taken the opportunity to weather in advance the area where Bo Monroe's 3D printed radiator will fit so the basic preweathering will show through the Aviattic lozenges once i lay those down

Also i have decided to include a figure with the Albatros once it will be completed and it was kindly painted by my friend and ALM Studios member Bernard Bassous so i will include some images of it for your looksee. The Figure is from BlackDog and is produced in Czech Republic!

I hope i will be able to come with an update soon and will probably start work on the decaling between flights next week!

As always stay safe and happy modeling!

Karim
