Interesting Email from Photobucket

Recommended Posts

I got this email yesterday, and they are wondering why I haven't posted any pics since sometime in 2006. Anyone else seen something from them? I gave them the heave ho and pulled most of my photos when they decided their service was worth $399 a year but I find it amusing to see that they don't seem to know that.

I've been thinking about hitting the reply button and cluing them in.

I was going to suggest that!  Sounds like it would be a lot of fun and a little satisfying, as well, right?       :m0152:

I suspect that the 'them' is a poorly configured clean-up bot traversing, in this case your data and barfing out an email when it trips over some annoying outlyer to the Photobucket's business model and Marketing plan.  I think you should mess with them.  Send an email or twenty and see what happens.

... about how you are stuck in Nigeria, and have a recently deceased "rich" relative that left you their estate, and you just need a "loan" to get the money....

When they first started posting those annoying notes in the forums instead of the photos, they said go to the web site. There they told  you the free was toast and their service was now to be $399 per year. I guess you  must have either not been killed of as you were paying or joined them after reality set in.

They don't do any of that anymore. They have 3 package options

Beginner Intermediate and Expert. You can pay monthly or annually.

I still have an account there ,free , no ads. Most of the pix I have there

are already on my HD and the rest I downloaded back when you could

do it for free. So it just sits there. I use Imgur now for free.

The beginner is $48 a year and the expert is $124. I don't see why

anyone would go back now as there are several other options that

are as good or better.
