GeeBee
Seems to be a masterpiece WIP: great work ! Congrats ! I guess the Hs-129 will be just as nice ! So many details hidden... what a pity ! Depicting a wrecked Ki-45 would be an option Jan_G

Jan_G
Guys thanks a lot for all your comments! Really apreciate it! I have started paint job with Tamiya Fine white surface primer and Mr.Color Off white for the markings for insignias I have create my own masks. I know there are so many discussions regarding proper red for Hinomarus. I have used Mr.Color C 327 (FS11136) Red, shaded with mixture of red and white and painted stripes and yellow leading edges thanks for looking jan Fanes, Vandy 1 VX 4, scvrobeson and 3 others
Jan_G
for the basic paint job I wanted to try to achieve the best chipping I can do based on reference from j-aircraft.com and based on many pics, Ki-45 was finished in factory with protective primer layer prior the final camuflage color was applied. Thats why there is no significant paint peeling effect visible which was so typical for many late single engine planes. So Alclad white aluminium with maskol applied MR. Color C128 IJA Grey Green applied maskol applied for final chipping basic layer of C130 Kawasaki Dark Green shaded with lighter shades (mixed with white) I was not satisfied with final chipping after maskol removal. Too prominent and large for Ki 45 So I gave another try to MIG chipping fluid, sprayed green over it and it finally resulted in chipping which is fine for me. and ready for gloss coat and decals! thanks for looking jan Edited February 10, 2019 by Jan_G LSP_Kevin, Fanes, Out2gtcha and 10 others
Vandy 1 VX 4
Great build and paint job Jan Also thank you very much for mentioning what Gunze Colours you've used. I will use your build thread as a reference for mine as I just pick my Nick up yesterday. Jan_G
Jan_G
On 1/31/2019 at 7:18 PM, crobinsonh said: How has fit been? to comment on fit. I think it's a great kit and really I didn't find any major complications. There was some minor stuff to correct but I think that it was more related to my rush during the glueing parts together So windshield glued to fuselage - sanding needed and corrected all places where I have used filler I have to sand down inner details of upper engine covers to make sure it will fit together after painted individually only one annoying thing with kit is that there are no masks for inner side of clear parts included so you are on your own here on the other hand position lights, landing light fits easily jan Edited February 10, 2019 by Jan_G LSP_Kevin, JefH, scvrobeson and 2 others
Fvdm
Wow, what a nice paintjob. I agree with you about the chipping, it came out much better the second time. Jan_G
