guitarlute101
Thanks for the kind words guys, I appreciate it. I had time today to take out the scroll saw and work on the bottom of the front fuselage. Draw it and saw it. Sand sides nice and even...………….. This is just the buck to form the plastic around so it has to be .030 smaller so that the plastic card on the outside of the buck will be the same width as the rear fuselage. My plan is to make the bottom of the fuselage out of 3 pieces of plastic card, the bottom and two sides. I've never tried it this way before so we'll see. The difficult area will be the front of the fuselage. If all else fails then I'll vacuform it. Here you can gauge the size that it will be in it's final form. That's it for now, little by little. Kagemusha
I've never heard of this aircraft before, fantastic project, all the very best. Great start too! Out2gtcha

Very interesting if not strange looking beastie! The suspended fuselage is truly an oddity.
Alain Gadbois
Very nice work Mark! I like your choice for the GB. It is an odd looking aircraft that will be a very interesting model. Makes me think of a later British bomber that was kitted by Matchbox in 1/72, but the name eludes me now... Alain

Alain I think you might be thinking if the Heyford, which definitely needs to be done in 1/

seiran01
Looks great! If I calculated right, it’s the same length as the WNW Gotha G.IV, and about two and a half to three inches shorter in wingspan. It’s gotta be taller though.
guitarlute101
Hello Mike, Thanks for looking in. I checked the data for both the G.I and G.IV in Jack Herris' "Gotha Aircraft of WW1" book.... Gotha G.I Upper span = 20.3m Length = 12m Height = 3.9m Gotha G.IV Upper span = 23.7 Length = 12.4 Height = 4.3 I know it's hard to judge from pictures sometimes but the G.IV looks taller to me in relation to the men standing next to the engine/fuselage areas in these pictures. The engines definitely add bulk on the G.IV. What do you think? Mark BiggTim
guitarlute101
Hello everyone, I was able to finish the bottom half of the front fuselage. I shaped the plastic around the wooden buck and added formers to the inside. Sorry for the dark picture, learning as I go. I need to do a little more work around the nose to smooth is out but it's nothing a little elbow grease won't fix. And here it is mated to the rear fuselage, starting to look like a G.I now. I am really enjoying this build.
