Iain
It was the Eduard artwork that got my attention - then I found this thread over on Britmodeller. Includes some great photos of her... Still looking for any more I can find. Iain

Meanwile, something amusing: Been looking at the kit wheels compared to the Eduard ones - it's hard to spot, but the Eduard one is on the right in the first photo! It is, however, a little smaller. But the funny thing I discovered was that the kit tyre is actually too big to fit in the hole for it in the wing, and by quite some margin! Moving swiftly on, nothing to see here! No, I haven't checked dimensions yet - but I'm pretty sure the Eduard one is likely to be the better sized of the two. Oh - and the three parts of the Eduard wheel set are loosely placed together - they will be centred on assembly - and small gap between rim and tyre filled. Ryan, will try and post photos of the polished turret later in the week - out tomorrow with family so won't make any progress. Nigels modelling bench
Great work Iain.. I remember you "taught" me that trick with the sharpie on the edge of the glazing, on your He111 build. I have applied it to every clear part join ever since. I'll be interested to see if it helps to disguise the joint once polished? Thanks again for posting... Iain
Some quick photos of the kit's main spar box molding - I'm planning the wing 'fix' to work around this - with the only change needed being removal of material from the rear upper web: Iain Alain Gadbois, Nazgul_11, jimbo and 7 others
Alain Gadbois
Hi Iain, I have some photos of Lib 3724, with the shark mouth only, and later with mouth and face. If you are interested I can scan and post here. The photos are from the excellent book by Carl Vincent , The Liberator and Fortress, no 2 in a series called Canada's Wings. For those curious, no 1 is on the Blackburn Shark. Alain BloorwestSiR and Iain

ChuckD
Iain, I'm really enjoying your work on this. Thanks for taking the time to document. It's really great to watch. The only thing stopping me from buying the Liberator is that I've just gotten going on my B-17. I'll be watching your progress to see how it goes. Subscribed! Thanks! Iain The 2 photos with the complete face are the same as those of that thread on Britmodeler, I have just noticed! I will scan the others which show the nose and radar antenna very well. Alain Gadbois
So here you go: The 2 photos from he book: Close ups of both, and note the radar mounts and antenna: Also in the book, this drawing of the artwork. The description on the right is also helpful. The sub kill mark is for another plane. Hope this helps! Alain GaryCN, nmayhew and jimbo 2
Iain
Thanks Alain - helps hugely!! Meanwhile - front and rear turret joints snded back (400 grit wet and dry) and given a 10 min polish - not brilliant - but would polish up better with 10 mins more work. You still have the joint though. As mentioned previously - will fill with Plasticene and make rubber mouls to make copies in resin that I can play with. Back in a mo... Iain
OK - back to the wings... Developed Davis B-24 wing profile - 22% thickness/chord - at 2.5 deg incidence (plus 1 degree incidence on the spar that goes through fuselage) - and with inner line allowing for approximate plastic thickness of wing surface: This was used as a pattern to draw over in CorelDRAW - creating a vector image that could be tweaked to the kit wing. This was laid over an oblique photo of the kit wing - scaled to be 1:1 on the page: Which resulted in a tweaked 'insert' profile at 1:1 scale that allowed for wing skin thickness and shape of wing moulding/webs/Flap section: Back in another mo...
