Hornet over Hanoi

Some more progress......

I have completed adding detail and plumbing to the wells. The nose gear well is pretty accurate in shape and I have just added some detail in the form of wiring and piping. The main gear wells are not so accurate, and with that in mind the detail isn't as accurate as it is representative.

I have painted each well flat black in preparation for some gloss white. The flat black hopefully giving some shadows and depth to the detail.

And while I had some flat black in the airbrush I did some pre-shading to the airframe.

Progress....

Working on the landing gear. Mostly I have added hydraulic lines. These have just had a coat of flat white sprayed on.

A little extra detail to the very plain gear doors.

Flaps. A little stiff wire inserted into the flap. The extra will be inserted into the wing, then bent to shape.

Smaller outer flap as was the case on early prototype aircraft.

Getting ready for main paint application. I have been adding some dark grey pre-shading to the flat white undersides. Not real exciting but I hope it will give some color modulation and highlights when I apply the gloss white. It is a little on the light side as I didn't what to go too heavy. Hope it shows through the gloss white.

Metalizer!!

I have masked all of the leading edges, Sprayed on Alclad gloss black primer, and then applied metalizer. Aluminum plate for the leading edges, Stainless Steel for the gun muzzle and the rear of the fuselage, and Magnesium to the exhaust nozzles. After that I applied Tamiya Clear to all of these areas to seal everything so that I don't rub it off while I continue the build.
