Bruce_Crosby
Hi Guys, After building a WNW Junkers D.1 and a WWI resin Daimler Marienfelde truck for Aviattic, I needed some modelling me for me. The first thing that shouted out to me was the Hasegawa N1K2 George kit so just before the Telford Show I opened the box and started cutting plastic. Box Art: Test fit of the wings: Test fit of the fuselage halves: Cockpit parts painted and odds and ends of the Eduard etch set added: Regards, Bruce Crosby Edited November 22, 2018 by Bruce_Crosby missed captions AlexM, Alain Gadbois and Uncarina
Bruce_Crosby
Hi Guys, More on the George build. Engine going together: The new Japanese colours from Mission Models: Engine with the intake manifold fitted, exhaust laying in the background: Trying out the interior fit into the fuselage: Back tracking a few day, here's the first evenings work, cleaning up the parts and filling the lines and gaps left around the underwing inserts: Regards, Bruce Crosby Edited November 22, 2018 by Bruce_Crosby missed captions Uncarina, Alain Gadbois, LSP_K2 and 2 others
Bruce_Crosby
Hi Guys, Part three. Interior parts test fit prior to painting: The rear fuselage and fin is different depending on which variant of the aircraft you buy. the gap took some filler but in the scheme of things, not much at all. Exhaust spaghetti in place: The massive frames that hold the George kit together, locking the fuselage and wings very positively: Homare 21 engine: Wheel wells painted with Mission Models Aluminium paint: Rear fuselage join smoothed over: Regards, Bruce Crosby Edited November 22, 2018 by Bruce_Crosby missed captions LSP_Kevin, Alain Gadbois and Uncarina
Bruce_Crosby
Hi Guys, More. The cowling painted first with MMP Grey primer, then their White aluminium, the AK Weathering Fluid, then MMP's Japanese Deep Green: Port wing with the same treatment: I painted the model section at a time so that I could concentrate the weathering process to a manageable time: A bit of a jump but here's more metal, green chipping, markings etc: Ooh! Lookee! a mask! Regards, Bruce Crosby Edited November 22, 2018 by Bruce_Crosby spelling LSP_Kevin and Uncarina

Bruce_Crosby
Hi Guys, Part 101, or it seems like it! Where the paint has ripped off (airframes weren't primed) only the Hinomaru discs were touched up. probably just some guy with a paintbrush and a pot of thin red lacquer that should need three of four layers to get opacity but here it's a rushed single coat. Lots of chipping on the wingtops where the crews loaded the ammo racks, plus a lot around the fasteners that were opened and closed at every re-arm. Under wing Hinomaru also chipped but not as much. Panel line wash is MMP Tyre Black mixed with water and some thinners to break the surface tension so it flows better. a couple of drops of paint go for miles: Chipped spinner. As per usual, MMP Grey primer, White Al but his time with added Chrome, then AK Fluid and Deep Green Gear doors in Al with my Tyre Black wash. Looks so much like the RAF Hercules bay doors I remember from nearly 40 years ago! A bit of a flap! Or two! Bruce_Crosby
Hi Guys, Leading edges and prop tips masked to take their layer of yellow: Fin markings designed in AutoCAD and cut with the Silhouette Cameo on Tamiya masking paper: Not quite the end result as there was some colour bleed under the masks but easily rectified with a fine sable brush and a dab of MMP's Green: Here's a tip for you: Props assembled to the hub and spinner: Interior: More interior: Dural Chipping on the prop blades: The Eduard IP: Regards, Bruce Crosby Edited November 22, 2018 by Bruce_Crosby missed captions Uncarina and LSP_Kevin
