Are you saying "Little Joe" is a -3?

Not necessarily.  Early -5s were built with -3 type rear cockpit windows.  I think the point is that if only a handful of early -5s were painted in tri-color, they would have also had the rear cockpit windows.  If the Airfix kit doesn’t include an option for the rear cockpit windows, then you can’t do one in tri-color from the box.

I'm strongly leaning toward that same conclusion, which, if true, is a bit of a shame, at least as far as I'm concerned.

I’d say it’s far more likely than not.

Looking more closely at the real photo of Little Joe, it has the -3 windscreen.  The -5 windscreen has the flat armor glass panel incorporated as part of the windscreen, and there is just a single short frame from the rounded top edge of the center panel to the frame at the rear of the windshield.  On the -3, the armored glass was a separate internal part, so the center windscreen panel wasn't flat but had a more flat top edge, with two small frames going from each corner of the center panel back to the rear frame of the windshield.

Erwin, i know ONE 1/24 you're waiting for since you started building:  BOULTON PAUL DEFIANT!!!!

I can only dream ! :(

Their must be some brand that can see the potential in such a kit.  I would be happy if it's 32 nd too.

(De Storch dat je me gaf is klaar in de groepsbouw.Bedankt )

Now dont crucify me here, but honestly the only initial thing I see that seems off a tad to my Mk 1 eyeball are the wheels.....

Maybe I'm off, but it seems like the wheels at least look like they are a bit too low in profile........something just looks off. Obviously I'll wait to see things I person before making a final call, but with the motorised option, I'm picking this one up!

I wouldn't worry about it even if they are.

I would think the usual AM companies will be getting ready for this one as I think this one is aimed squarely at the North American market.

Of course it will also be built by others but this one will be well covered with AM Ip's, decals and other lovely stuff.

If you suspend it from the ceiling and switch the motor on will it fly around in circles like those toy aircraft you used to be able to get?

A very pleasant surprise from Airfix - Saw this yesterday at Telford - Incredibly impressive in the flesh and to my eye looked bob on from tip to toe and sat very well on its wheels with clearly well engineered and accurate touches across the whole airframe. Definitely a lot of top quality, plastic for the price.

The stressed skin is also really well rendered, subtle but there, not overdone at all IMHO. Top job to the designers on the finesse shown.

The designer was stood by his new 'baby' all day and what a pleasant (young!) chap he was.

I also met the gentleman who had built the beautiful example they had completed on the stand.

Apparently if there had been any delays on the M20 he wouldn't have made it! Another one on a tight building deadline like our Phartycroc with his HKM Lanc.

Didn't VFS say they were going to do a 1/24 corsair sometime back? I thought I saw that over at HS.

Just looking at the sprue closeups on iModeler. At the risk of being hanged... row after row of dimples for rivets? In 1/24 scale? Really? The ones that weren’t absolutely flush on the Hellcat were raised. And what I see looks drastically overdone.
