On the D-13, yes. But the D-11 utilized the same arrangement as the D-9.

 

D-11 (note the closed flap section forward of the supercharger intake scoop):

There is a distinct picture of the instrument panel of the D-11 in a fantastic end of the war GI photo collection book called L.O.S.T. 

I hope perhaps someone also has this book and maybe can share this picture with us. For the D-11?     I can have my son try and dig this out for us if he’s “up to it”.   

 

Great subject and looking king forward to this build.

I see the original camouflage is different from the D-13 at the Museum.

Micke D is correct. Just another example of why it is best to use period documentation for reference, NOT restorations. 

 

Also, and I'm sure you already know this, but the propeller spinner on the museum example is a substitute - not an actual D-13 spinner.
