Sgt Shultz II
I'm building an F-100 (1/48 scale) in SEA Camouflage and from all the research pic's I have found it looks like the paint is burned off the tail section so I have 2 basic questions. 1) what is the demarcation line for the tail section where the paint would get burned off and what would be bare metal? 2) how can you get that "burned paint effect"? Is there an easy way to do it? Ron Edited October 9, 2018 by Sgt Shultz II

Ivan Ivanovich
"It changed/It depends" Timeframe is the key. Beginning from 1970, aircraft that went through depot repaint had the demarcation line moved further forward - FS 448.5. Anyway, you'd still find a/c with original pre-1970 SEA camo (FS 495 demarcation line) during the early 1970s. (FS=Fuselage Station) You may want to look for period photographs of your selected decal option in order to determine the actual position. thierry laurent
Globally, if you make one plane in Asia it has the burnt paint whereas for an ANG bird you move the demarcation line to the front and paint the discolored metal area with transparent blues and browns.
