WOW!!!!!!

That is SOME model my friend. Any chance of sharing some WIP pics?  Id love to see the process that got you here. "Best Aircraft"?  Thats no surprise, its bloody amazing looking!!!

Brian my friend,

thanks for you kind words.

I have since added a link to the work in progress section in the blog and i will repost the link here for you. The gallery hasn't got any descriptives but its pretty much in the build order of things. One think i cannot stress enough is to make sure the transparent skin is super well polished in order to get a good smooth coat to have the paint or decals lay on. I used micromesh then the tamiya polishing compounds with the proxxon and a cotton buffing wheel at low speed!

Thanks again for leaving a kind word !

Karim

'the Horten won best aircraft of show in the hobby category scale 1/40 and above!'

With good reason.

At first glance I thought a T-shirt had been made with your model on it.  Which would not be a bad idea.

Sincerely,

Mark

Mark thanks for the comment!

This photo was actually for my sponsor's page!

They did custom t-shirts for the contest which is such a nice idea of them!

Their link is below if anyone is interested!

Stellar work! I just love the look of this aircraft: so futuristic, yet made out of wood. You brought it to life!

Cheers,  Tom

Tom, thanks for leaving a comment. The aircraft is such a fascinating subject and the more i dig the more i was amazed with the actual engineering and innovation. The kit is also a pleasure to build to be honest and the part represent quite well the actual airframe!

Karim, I can only echo what so many others have already said!:wow:I'm going to be looking at your pics for some time to come for inspiration on my own build, whenever that starts. Absolutely fantastic piece of work Sir.  :clap2:

Wolf, thank you for the kind words!

I will be so looking forward to your build when the time comes around, just like every build you start!

I am sure she will look stunning when you do your magic!

That is one absolutely amazing looking finish! I don’t believe I have seen anything better in regard to that plane. Almost unbelievable. More pics please! What did you do to the foil to get it looking like that?

Cheers

Mike

Mike thank you for the comment!

For the foil i got to thank Brian for that, he uses a special custom chemical etching concoction with lead and bleach. Some of the foil was going for an SU27 build which is unfortunately now defunct so i am recycling their use on foiling other aircraft albeit the areas being smaller. For the weathering i just used a couple of different pigments to dirty the foil up!

thanks again

You put that on a contest table and were surprised it didn't take best aircraft!??!! That is one incredible model, Karim, congratulations!!!!

:clap2::clap2::clap2:

Ray thanks for the kind comments!

To be honest yes i was surprised. i am going to put up the EDay gallery post up later today and you will see the amount of kits running, and the quality of the builds so i was quite surprised when i got called during the trophy ceremony for the Horten!

WOW! How did you get the plywood effect, decals?

Yes Sir, a mix of Alex Glass's decals (Uschi Van der rosten) !

Troy thank you for leaving such a nice comment. I am glad you like her!

my mind is still not made up on next kit but i have reshuffled the workshop setup and have put the box and resin bits to start a Junkers D1 but still i keep eyeing some other kits so i am not quite sure yet...but a kit will be started tomorrow when i am back from miami that is for sure...
