Sgt Shultz II
I spent 10 years working on the RF-4C but on the front end and not the back so here's my question! The aft missile bays, or what would have been on the fighter versions, were they flat or was there some small curvature to them? The Hasegawa 1/48 scale models I'm working on have fillets for them but they do not cover of fill the void very well so I'm wondering if that area should be flat or what? thierry laurent
The recesses should simply be filled in.
Sgt Shultz II
Yes I know but would that section be flat or is there some indentation/curve to it???
Dave Williams
The RFs were not built with missle bays, so in reality they weren’t just covered over like in the model kits. Those areas just followed the natural shape of the underside of the engine bays. https://www.airliners.net/photo/USA-Air-Force/McDonnell-Douglas-RF-4C-Phantom-II/1021670/L?qsp=eJwtjLsKAkEMRf8ltRY%2BsNhOC1tF/IGQXHRxdYYkoMOy/%2B7ManfuuXBGkvQKfOJaMqgjB5vcaUGZjZ9O3UgPlHcyrUyX43Ir9fRkcShVKAf2IsgB/fuTKaxdcJk7t9ZdrRvDzr%2B52dWpveeB5wyC%2B4Gm6QtoAy5t Edited September 23, 2018 by Dave Williams
