I used to shoot them with X20A, but not anymore. The leveling thinner with that retarder results in a much better paint finish, and also one that is more durable. I'll second this. The Tamiya acrylics seem made for the stuff. I usually mix it 50/50. LSP_K2
CANicoll
I keep hearing about it, but since I'm mostly using Vallejo acrylics these days it doesn't apply to those paints. I do want to get into the lacquers sometime. I do have a few of the Tamiya paints which have not been shooting too well so next time maybe I'll get that a try. Thanks for the comments and notes gents!! Chris LSP_K2
ScottEDyer
Does anybody know the ratio of Mr Retarder to add to their regular thinner? The levelling thinner has been out of stock for a while in Canada so I may need to resort to making my own.

It's in stock at Wheels and Wings. https://wheelswingshobbies.com/mrht108-mister-hobby-mr-leveling-thinner-400ml/ They will ship it within Canada. Absolutely correct. Modelers were using MC's leveling thinner with Tamiya acrylics BEFORE Tamiya lacquers appeared on the scene. In fact, some builders didn't want to spray Tamiya's acrylic-paints WITHOUT Mr Color/Leveling Thinner. Edited March 26, 2023 by ivanmoe
