I'll second this.  The Tamiya acrylics seem made for the stuff.  I usually mix it 50/50.

I keep hearing about it, but since I'm mostly using Vallejo acrylics these days it doesn't apply to those paints.  I do want to get into the lacquers sometime.  I do have a few of the Tamiya paints which have not been shooting too well so next time maybe I'll get that a try.

Does anybody know the ratio of Mr Retarder to add to their regular thinner? The levelling thinner has been out of stock for a while in Canada so I may need to resort to making my own.

Absolutely correct.

 

Modelers were using MC's leveling thinner with Tamiya acrylics BEFORE Tamiya lacquers appeared on the scene. In fact, some builders didn't want to spray Tamiya's acrylic-paints WITHOUT Mr Color/Leveling Thinner.
