Arado 196 A-3: FINISHED !

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

My next project is to finish a stalled build. With,if all goes well, a "surpise" paintjob. The build will be with one wing folded and one straight.

More to follow...

Overall, a nice kit. I was a little disappointed with the instrument panel - no decals provided (Airscale to the rescue!). No "National Insignia" provided, either.

Cool project, I have one of these in the stash, I have been slowly been picking up some bits and pieces to add to the base kit. Hopefully back end of the year I will hopefully start on it. Will be following your progress with great interest.

Regards. Andy

Surprise paint-job? So the civil Ar-196 or the aircraft from Tintin?

Tintin would be nice. But that's not it.Also not a civil.

I have a crazy idea to paint it.Might not even turn out how I plan it.

Started painting.

Can't show pictures as that would spoil the surpise.

Whoever designed the clear parts should be shot.Nearly impossible to fix them without messing with the glue.

But,I my case ,it doesn't matter as they will be fully painted.

Fully painted ??? :mental:  :hmmm:

Hi Erwin, I built this kit a few years ago.  Other then the IP and canopy, which you rightly point out is not the best designed, it is a pretty decent kit.  I look forward to your paint scheme.

I purchased an aftermarket resin canopy that is very good. It deals with the Revell kits canopy issues. That may be worth considering for some if it still available.
