Isar 30/07 Posted May 17, 2018 Author Posted May 17, 2018 Little breathtaking after the scratch marathon. Only little progress today: Time to care about the canopy. Canopy is made of clear resin and looks impressive: Clear and thin! The casting block made me think that the canopy is nearly as thick as the casting block is - but it is of perfect thickness! http:// http:// http:// Removed the casting blocks, polished the clear parts using car polishing and then coated them with Future. Isar 30/07 Posted May 17, 2018 Author Posted May 17, 2018 Spent some time to do some dryfitting: http:// http:// 2 mm thick! The wheel well - pictured from front to rear. http:// http:// http:// As you can see from my whitened fingernails - I had to do some pressure to put the wheel well into the fuselage. What to do now? Can I live with that thickness? Would I always see THIS when looking on the model once it is finished? Should I go the hard way and thin the fuselage??? On the other side: The wheel well is underneath the wings and one cannot see it, unlike some other wheel wells as Tornado, A-7, MiG 23... http:// I have to think it over.... Thanks for stopping by Reimund TorbenD, Derek B, sandokan and 2 others 5
sandokan Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 Follow what your heart says Reimund☺ Modelling is that! Resin build is a challenge but at the end you will keep the goal. Tib☺
Coneheadff Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 Reimund, Alex and anybody interested on. I found an italian modeler society website where there are many pictures about the restoration of a G91. I think useful. http://www.modellismosalento.it/en/walkaround/walkaround-aerei/440-fiat-g-91-r-in-restauro.html Ciao Tiberio Thanks a lot Tiberio!!!! Those are wonderful reference pics Cheers, Alex sandokan 1
Coneheadff Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 Reimund, didn't we talk about those problems yesterday? ;-) I think I would leave it as it is and try to "hide" it with a bit of putty and some pipes and hoses. sandokan 1
Isar 30/07 Posted June 19, 2018 Author Posted June 19, 2018 After some days break, here´s a little progress. I tried to update the otherwise rather empty wheel wells. Thanks to Tiberio´s walkaround pics, I did a lot wiring unsing copper, lead, rods, tubes and lead foil. http:// http:// http:// http:// and the result http:// LSP_Kevin, Hubert Boillot, blackbetty and 1 other 4
Isar 30/07 Posted June 19, 2018 Author Posted June 19, 2018 The front wheel well needs quite little attention comparing to the main wheel well. http:// http:// http:// http:// Posting (and comparing!) these pics ,I recognized some wiring missing. Back to workbench later this day... LSP_Kevin, sandokan and blackbetty 3
Isar 30/07 Posted June 19, 2018 Author Posted June 19, 2018 Next is the landing gear which is made of brass with high hevel detailing. Comparing to Tiberios pics they just need some wiring here and there. http:// http:// http:// http:// http:// http:// http:// http://https://s6.postimg.cc/40hpm2vu9/188-95.jpg http://https://s6.postimg.cc/nttteygzl/20180619_085057.jpg blackbetty, Derek B and sandokan 3
Isar 30/07 Posted June 19, 2018 Author Posted June 19, 2018 Oh, 2 pics are missing. Ok, here they are: http:// http:// I flattened the wheels and checked the fitting. http:// Cheers - Reimund Derek B, Out2gtcha, LSP_Kevin and 4 others 7
