Fiat G.91 R3 - Dayglo Models

Checking the instruction sheet there is a major problem coming up:

The intake is closed by a plate behind the forward wheel well!

And this is how it should be

I guess, there won´t be any AM producer to do something like "seamless suckers", I have to solve this on my own.

At the moment I´m thinking of using lead foil from the beginning of the intake to the upward going of the main wheel wells.

Not an easy Task but this could/should work - I hope!

By the way - there are some casting problems on the bigger parts

The underside of the cockpit tub is the top of the intake - with some putty and sanding this should be no major problem

Casting on the intake offer some more imperfections

Nothing, putty and a sanding stick won´t solve

NO Problem so far, but you can see all over the entire model (the big parts as fuselage sides for example) a lot of bubbles!

These bubbles laying all under the surface yet and I hope, the won´t "open" when sanding after putting the fuselage sides together!

That´s for today. Thanks for watching!

Next stop will be the canopy….

Tib,

you know, this build would not work without your support and help!

Once again - thank you very much my friend!

Every new pic makes me do a little more on this kit.

Cheers - Reimund

Reimund, dear friend. I'm so glad if helped you  as well as many did it the same to me many times.

If you need any caption translation do not exhitate, call  me! (please pardon my poor english)

Notice: Do not forget the proper ejection seat model depending on the fact that the MB6 replaced as retrofit the early MB4 on italian and german G91s in the seventies

Have a nice day

Ciao, cheers Tib :piliot:

I have the mk 4 seat here:

http://store.spruebrothers.com/product_p/ams32122.htm

I also did the mk 6 seat...They were for the Mirage, but should be very close to the ones used in this airframe.

I can cast on request if anyone needs one.

Tiberio,

your english sounds perfect to me - NO problem at all!

I´m planning to do a late Gina, using the Mk 6 ejection seat, the bulged canopy and the later code style using numbers only instead of the earlier code system (letters + numbers).

These "late" Ginas are much more attractive to me as they often had more stencils/servicing instructions on the a/c and prominent unit badges comparing to the earlier years of service.

Beside that the late Ginas had their underwing tanks partially painted bright orange. I was thinking of doing an a/c of WaSLw 50 (weapons training unit 50 of Luftwaffe) which had additional bright orange painted on nose, wings and rudder but I´m still hoping we´ll see a twoseater in the future. All these (training) birds were painted this way....

But until the paint job, there is a long road ahead....

Cheers - Reimund

Harold,

thanks for these informations.

As my choice is the late Fiat, I´m pretty happy with the kit´s ejection seat.

I did some addtitional research and recognized some more details missing on the kit´s Mk 6.

I´m not sure if ALL these details would be seen once the ejection seat is glued into the cockpit but I have to do some more detailing.

Hi Reimund.

I hope you didn't yet completed the interior of the Gina cause I've found many superdetailed photographs coming from Luca Ocretti, a Facebook friend of mine. He works and studies at an aerotech school in Udine, Italy and owns hundred of pictures and walkaround videos for restoring and game simulator duties. He said to me will be happy helping you so you can contact him at:   https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100004380134662

Big cheers

Tiberio

Hi Tiberio,

a short break takes much more time than expected - sadly. This project isn´t cancelled - just stopped for a few more days to come due to some other things to concentrate on.

Thank you very much for your support! The interior is not completed so far, so I´m very curious of things to be discovered on the facebook link.

All the best!

Cheers - Reimund
