Dandiego
Progress continues... All decaling is done. After a coat of X-22 clear it is time to add some weathering. I am no expert on weathering but here goes. Airbrake before, 3 dots from a marker... Smear it back.. Rather subtle, maybe too subtle. LSP_K2
Looking real good. Too bad the kit isn't done in injection, or I might just have to have one, such a cool looking machine. Dandiego and timvkampen

Guest Clunkmeister
This is one great build. Any possibility we'll see this gem in Phoenix this yeR?
Hubert Boillot
Not TOO subtle, Dan. These birds were kept clean. Keep up the good work. Hubert Dandiego
LSP_Ray
Nice work! I think you want the weathering light. The Navy kept their stuff pretty clean in peace time. Dandiego

Guest Peterpools
Dan Super work on the decals. Nope, subtle weathering looks real good. Keep 'em comin Peter
Dandiego
Hubert and Ray, I am building this for Phoenix. I have been to a few Nationals but not many. I tend to think that a mostly clean build gets ignored. I am adding weathering in the hope that it will add character to the build. I have no illusions of winning anything. You guys are right these birds were quite clean. I guess I am going "rogue". Dan MikeMaben
LSP_Ray
Go for it! Will add character and curb appeal. The Navy kept them pretty clean, but they still had stains, paint touch ups, etc. The paint was pretty mottled after some time on the CV's. Dandiego
Well a bit of a bump in the road. Only today did I get the Ford sitting in its gear, or rather, it's wheels. Seems to sit rather nose high. The only real solution is to shorten the nose gear. Going to have to figure out a way to do this and not screw up all of my completed work . Now I did modify the kit nose gear to get a more solid glue joint but didn't think I had really changed the "sit" that much. Perhaps I got the mains in wrong. Too late change that . The mains are solid brass but the nose gear is resin with a wire core. Pondering...... Dan
