Rene J Francillon has died

Recommended Posts

Wow, that is a big loss for the aviation community. His books are terrific resources. And he had a passion for all things flying that few ever have had.

Bummed,

Lee

Firstly I thought that can't be as it shows Rene J Francillon THE Painter died in July 1973.

I can only find this:

René Francillon Photo Archive | Flickr

https://www.flickr.com/photos/sdasmarchives/sets/72157651530128190/

That's the author and aviation fan and those ARE his photos.

And then there's THIS!

The guy who died in 1973 was a Swiss painter, and not the same fellow. I still can't find confirmation that our respected author has died, but I can certainly understand that there's been no obituary yet, or that various sites haven't been updated. Just want to make sure it isn't fake news.

Is this a Mark Twain "rumours of my death are greatly exaggerated" moment?

Anyone have a link to the forum(s) which raised this?
