shadowmare Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 (edited) Fly Hurricane with Montex Masks. Plane flown by Bert Houle - Canadian Ace. Kit is unfortunately not a pleasant experience. I recommend it only to a Hurri fans. Edited March 10, 2018 by shadowmare Old Dog, LSP_Kevin, Big Tex and 3 others 6

ade rowlands Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Outstanding results. I tried and failed with this kit and so dissatisfied with my efforts sold my others on. Once again though, outstanding result. shadowmare 1
1to1scale Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 WOW! That is a dirty little bird. I have this in my stash, I am a glutton for self abuse. shadowmare 1
Guest Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Nice work. I agree that this kit is a real SOB to build. I threw mine on the floor out of frustration.
Bill Cross Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Wow, sorry to hear it's a dog kit. But the results make it look like it "fell together." shadowmare 1
Out2gtcha Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 Man that looks wonderful! Sorry to hear about the kit. I know all about the need for supreme passion to survive building a kit. I really really hope my Fly Wessex is not in the same category of "passion needed to complete" category. shadowmare 1
BloorwestSiR Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 (edited) I really like weathering and paint job you did. I wonder how it compares to the PCM kit which I nearly finished before dropping it accidentally. That also wasn't an easy build but I still enjoyed it up to that point. shadowmare Posted March 9, 2018 Author Posted March 9, 2018 Nice work. I agree that this kit is a real SOB to build. I threw mine on the floor out of frustration. I had same mood few times while building Fly didn't meet expectations. Man that looks wonderful! Sorry to hear about the kit. I know all about the need for supreme passion to survive building a kit. I really really hope my Fly Wessex is not in the same category of "passion needed to complete" category. I hope that we will get a better Hurricane, it really deserves Tamiya quality. Fingers crossed for your Wessex. Out2gtcha 1

Without a doubt Fly is better - wings with raised rivets, sharper details and overall look. Out2gtcha 1
Out2gtcha Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 Thank you. Without a doubt Fly is better - wings with raised rivets, sharper details and overall look. However from hearing about buildabitlity I've heard the opposite when comparing the Fly kit to the PCM kit, other than having to glue the tops of the wings to the fuse before gluing the bottom halves of the wings to the top. shadowmare Posted March 9, 2018 Author Posted March 9, 2018 (edited) I found 2 builds of PCM and Fly, so everybody can compare: PCM: http://www.hyperscale.com/2010/features/hurricanemki32mm_1.htm FLY: https://doogsmodels.com/2016/05/24/review-132-fly-hawker-hurricane-mk-iic/ I think that kits are in the same class in pain making for builder Edited March 9, 2018 by shadowmare BloorwestSiR 1
