Had another thought on the 'AN-AP5-13 RADIO" Decal and wasn't really happy with what I did.

If in doubt, cover it with a photo of Jane Russell;

Here is the Instrument Panel etc. with Airscale's excellent decals which are a joy to work with.

There are also Airscale Cockpit Decals dotted around the place with the exception of the Rear Compartment which are bespoke.

I did some research into the panel on this one and learnt that US Night Fighter instrument faces were manufactured by DuPont with a special print media which was a precursor to luminous paint.

Therefore the Pledge Floor Care used to create the lenses had the slightest amount of clear green.

Spot the deliberate ******* mistakes...

Didn't spot until this photo, will have to sort with an Airscale...

Here is a test fit of the Floor;

The colour coding of Fire Extinguishers is a post war thing.

Indeed, our Fire Extinguishers are Red like our American Cousins.

WWII US Fire Extinguishers were generally natural brass or nickel plated.

Randolph Fire Extinguishers however (which mine is) were painted in Olive Drab or Black and I went for black.

The only colour coding as standard were the fire extinguishers for the engines.

These were color coded according to the coded per country; red for french and german, stripes red/white for british

The US did not colour code.

The only coding of cylinders in red   were french which denotes hydrogen

Thanks, that is good to know.  I have no references to fire extinguishers except whatever color photo I can find.  The flightline extinguishers were red, I have color photos of them, but didn't really know about inside the aircraft.

Thank you all for your kind words.

Really appreciate it.

Some news however, I have to shelve this one for a bit.

A friend of mine and fellow enthusiast has been taken ill and has asked me to build him the P-51D 'Big Beautiful Doll'

Something I cannot refuse.

So this is not the end of this thread, just an interval, will post the P-51!!!

Cheers

Steve
