Advice to build a 1/32 Hasegawa P-40K-1 to -5

Hi gents,

If one wants to build the version below, P-40K with short rounded tail (early version from -1 to -5 if I am correct), ...

... the obvious solutions seem to use one of the Hasegawa 1/32 P-40K Warhawk 08188 or P-40E/K Warhawk 08226 references. MAJOR ISSUE: I do not have them and they seem extremely difficult to find.

Is it possible to use a P-40E version (which I have), and add a the sprue with the rounded tail version (J sprue I think) ? How to get a J sprue, ask Hasegawa ? Any idea ?

Many thanks for your help.

Cheers,

Hello and  :post1:   I don't think the sprue is available anywhere, however I have heard the next Eduard 1/32 release is going to be the P-40K, whether this turns out to be true we'll just have to wait and see, I'm sure if it's not the case Hasegawa will eventually re-release the K themselves.

I might have a spare short tail sprue as I have several of the Hasegawa P-40 kits, including a couple that I'll be converting to an F and an L. Give me a day or so to check and I'll let you know. If I have them as spares, you're welcome to them, fingers crossed and all that, eh? :D

Just checked my Hasegawa P-40 collection, I do have a spare short tail section, but it is from the Kittyhawk Mk.I/III kit (08204) and is slightly different to the P-40K tail in that it doesn't have the rounded fillet fitted to the short-tail K. It would probably be a fairly straight-forward modification to add the fillet yourself, I'm thinking that masking off the basic shape, then building up the fillet with milliput and sanding/polishing back to the correct curvature would probably work. Let me know if this seems like a usable solution to you, and I'll get the tail parts shipped asap. I don't want anything for them so if you think you can use them, just p.m me your shipping address and I'll get it sorted out asap. Have a great evening, best regards, David.

Thank you so much for having a look Dave! Nevertheless I think you are overestimating my capacity to build this additional fillet  :D. Let me think about it. At least if I suddenly feel omnipotent, I know where to ask.

Many thanks again for your offer.

Pierre
