Smokey
I just ordered some of these but they were out of the Color Coat thinner. Can anyone out there tell me what kind of thinner or brand works best with these enamel paints or am I going to have to wait until there brand of thinner is back in stock? Also what is the ratio of thinner to paint does everyone have best luck with? Never have used this brand so it is new to me.
jenshb
I have used the MrColor levelling thinner for Xtracolor, Humbrol and WEM/Sovereign Colourcoats enamels, and have had no problems with any of those paints. Jens
dennismcc
Not much help to you but I use Xtracolor thinners with all the enamels I use, MM, Humbrol, Colourcoats and Xtracolor, as for mixes I always start off at 50:50 I use a pipette to measure the paint and thinners into a glass jar and give it a swirl test, the mixture should leave a nice colour on the glass but settle to the bottom quickly. Also I mix the paint for at least 2 minutes with a battery stirrer (Badger) in the tin before using it, as to pressure I usually go for 20 psi at the compressor discharge. Guest Maxim
Tamiya Lacquer thinner will also work with enamel paints. I have used with Model Master, Humbrol etc with no problems.
