Look: Regards - dutik I think anything with a prominent nose intake confuses some people. I recall a story about a Lightning intercept of a Tu-95 or somesuch somewhere far out over the North Sea. The Lightning pilot was running low on fuel and was unable to find his tanker. The Tu-95 radioed the pilot of the 'English MiG' and vectored him in the right direction. I can't recall the exact details, but I'm guessing it occurred sometime in the Gorbachev era. 'English MiG' always struck me as an apt a description of the Lightning as you're likely to get from a foreign crewman. Rudolf_Filip
Hello everybody! I've been invited to join this site by AndersN. My name is Andreas / Rudolf_Filip121 and I live in Helsingborg, Sweden. I work as a volunteer at the local aviation museum at former Swedish Air Force base of F 10 at Ängelholm. A couple of years ago I spent a lot of my spare time working on our SAAB J 29F Tunnan (29575). She was standing outside the Swedish Air Force museum at Malmköping for about 35 years. Needless to say she wasn't in a great shape when she arrived at our museum and in my care. She is still not in perfect condition but considering what she has been through and our limited budget she does look better now... Now back to topic! I'm new to this technology. Please have patience with me. I studying to be a 3d-printingspecialist right now after quitting my job as a salesman. Since I have access to a decent 3d-scanner (Artec Leo), I have a resinprinter at home and keys to the museum... ... well, it would almost be dumb not to take advantage of this, right??? I have scanned the areas that I find are the troublesome parts of the Fly kit. I must say that I'm actually impressed with the kit! The J 29 have some very complex shapes that can easily be missed. With some careful work this could result in a very accurate model. The worst part that more or less screamed at me when I opened the kit was the nose. I knew that it would be a problem since all other J 29 kits have an issue with the intake part. The intake "hole" is 3 mm too large in diameter. The nose is also about 1,5 mm too short. Here is how my scan of the nose turned out. This file was easy to start from when I designed a new nose and a new intake channel. I did a partial print "with a shortened intake channel". Now I have to go and see if I can make this new nose part actually fit the kit. I expect that I have to go back and forth and make changes in the design. So far I'm really pleased with the look. Here is the kits nose over my version with the correct dimensions. Quite a size difference! So far so good! I'm also working on other parts like the seat and the afterburner. To be continued... dutik
How about the B variant? Used it the same intake diameter as the F variant? I. e. would your part also be useful for the B kit? Regards - dutik Martinnfb

The control sidewalls aren't very tall compared to the bottom of the seat pan. Not too fussed, this one is just a cool thing to have on the shelf, not a perfection model. Actually the J 29 cockpit is this shallow! It had to be since it's squeezed in above the intake channel. Here is how it looked like without the seat installed when I worked in the cockpit... However, I wonder what Fly where thinking when they put that big box on the cockpit floor for the seat to sit on... The seat should be sitting directly on the floor. Lee White
Ah, hell. It's not like I don't have several hundred other kits to build, eventually, but I went and bought an F. At least I got it out of my system, I guess. Jack, Rockie Yarwood and Christoffer Lindelav

Rudolf_Filip
The problem with the nose is that Fly made the nose slightly short and the "intake hole" 3 mm too wide. By cutting of the nose ring and replacing it with the resin "nose/intake part" will solve this issue. The other error that I've found with this kit is that the main gear wells opening are slightly to large. This is however a very easy fix since all you have to do is to add a small strip of plasticard on the upper edge. This strip should be 1,6 mm wide. It may sound little but it's very noticable. Other things I'm thinking of doing is new main wheels. The are not bad in the kit but I have scanned them just in case. What do you think? Should I make them as well? This is how they look in the kit: And in real life: I'm hoping to be able to start selling the nose parts in about two weeks.
