joe
Awesome looking Frank. What colours did you use for the upper and lower surfaces? They look great. mpk

thefenders
It looks like you somehow shrank a real ki-84, down to 1/32 scale! Very realistic! How did you get the "chipping" effect? mpk
alain11
hi gents thank you for the interest taken in my humble contribution I used Tamiya paint ref FX 14 for" jap army grey" very close to the Brit " duck egg green " for the under side . post shading , and black wash . some pastel powder around the engine cowl ( like " Mig ) for the upper side , I did my own mix , the result is very close to the US olive drab , a little bit brownish/ greenish ( weird colour) though I am not "confortable" with "chipping " effects ,( it's sometime difficult to get random effects "plausible" ) in this case , I simply used Maskoll applied with a sponge ......as you can see , nothing "sophisticated " Alain Edited March 4, 2017 by alain11 dmthamade, joe and Vandy 1 VX 4

Bruce_Crosby
Hi Alain, That is one good looking Frank! You nailed it. As for your paint chipping technique, well, it worked! No need to be humble, it's as good as anything I've seen here on this site and believe me, these guys know what they are doing. I have avoided the Hairspay method as it doesn't seem to be really controllable but using a masking fluid means you can work out the chipped areas in advance of the top coat. Congratulations on a job well done. Regards, Bruce Crosby alain11
