Special Hobby Westland Whirlwind Mk 1

Had a slow day yesterday, weather was c**p so did a little research. Just to give folks an idea of comparison the Whirlwind has the same span as a de Havilland DH.9A, a Supermarine Walrus and a de Havilland Hornet. The ninak is a Wingnuts kit (if you have one) whilst the Walrus and Hornet are in 1/48 (Airfix & Classic Airframes). Smaller than a P-38 but still a substantial size to fit in the cabinet.

Looking at the CAD....the seat looks a strange shape?

Thats what I was thinking.  The seat I can replace. I am really looking forward to realistic and accurate flaps.  Those would be a PITA to rework.   Anyone count the exhaust stubs?  Doe the model have the correct number of cylinders?

thanks for posting - duly saved!

by the way, will the kit have bomb racks?

i see more than half the hundred or so Whirlwinds ever built were converted to fighter bombers, and there are some quite interesting marking schemes for these machines.

anything that opens possibilities up should be good for sales i think.

Cheers

Nick
