Emilio
Hello everybody, I plan on building Trumpeters A-6E, exactly this one: But I don`t really know wether to use a GRU-5 or a GRU-7. So maybe someone with more knowledge could help me out and maybe recommend a resin option? Thank you in advance Emil Edited February 1, 2017 by Emilio reconspit and Zero77
Lothar
155661 was built as a A-6A but upgraded to A-6E standard approx. around 1974 and got the GRU-7 seat, so you need those for the aircraft you plan to build. True Details make some GRU-7 seats and I think you can also get away with the Aires seats for the F-14A. Scotsman
Are there many variations between a GRU-7 from an F-14A and those fitted to the A-6...?
Emilio
Really no GRU-7 for an A-6E? Well if I could get away with the Aires seats for the F-14A I guess I could use the Wolfpack ones aswell? I just don`t like dealing with all the fidely Pe belts... Zero77
There are a few differences between the F-14 and the A-6E ones. There was a thread about that a few months ago. I'm not sure, but it seems to me that Harold may have been working on it?
Dave Williams
I thought the seats in the Trumpy Intruder kits were actually GRU-7s, which is a problem for the A-6A boxing, but not the -E boxing.
Starfighter
Tomcat GRU-7s are fine for A-6Es. Quickboost has a version with cast on seatbelts as well. I'd just modify the seat cushions. Lothar
ziggyfoos
If using the F-14 GRU-7's also modify the obvious face curtain pull handles, the F-14 had two loops, the A-6 had one big loop. Lothar
