...wait...all that detail goes into the plane? What's visible?

All the white that you see is for alignment purposes, Shaka. Some of the detail will be visible through the front of the cowling. I hope.

Looking real good and I'm right with you using epoxy on the exhaust.  Better some extra work and not having to worry down the line.

Keep 'em coming

Peter

I'm waiting for epoxy to dry on those exhaust runners, so it's time to tackle the next obstacle.

A while back, I broke off the tail wheel; the yoke broke into three pieces - and the carpet monster swallowed one of them.

I cemented two pieces of 0.060 (1.5mm) card stock together and drilled a hole for the axle.

A little layout, then I opened the hole with an end mill for access with other cutting tools and files. Progress so far:

if its not too late, Im pretty sure I wont be using my tail gear if you want it

Thanks for the offer, Shawn. If this doesn't work to my liking, I may take you up on it. I really hate the way manufacturers have you dangle that tail wheel out in space when you join fuselage halves!

Some final trimming and sanding, and hopefully she'll be good to go!
