This is why we have checklists. It is impossible to take off in a 337/O-2 with the rear engine inoperative if you follow the checklists. But you can't fix stupid.

I've never flown a 337, but hight timers tell me to advance the rear throttle first...

But I know a guy who flew a C-46 from Churchill to Thompson with the boarding ladder still hanging out in the breeze. ;). Nothing more to be said, other than the excessive fuel flow is a big mystery till you discover why.

I know somebody who did that too on the Twin Otter in Antarctica!! Me!! Wooops!!

I've seen one or two of those rolled into little balls off the departure end of the runway. Plenty of guys have tried taking off without the rear engine working. That never ends well.

I've seen one go down in the bush too - don't retract the gear if you have an engine failure at rotation.... the big gear door opens up and practically acts like a big airbrake causing more harm than good... the aicraft is a nice design - but, you need to have your witts about you before you go flying in one of these mixmasters!! I flew one on fire patrol for a few months at the early stage of my career!

Earnie

Always been a 337 Mixmaster fan. Remember when if you went for your multi in a 337, it was restricted to center line thrust engine aircraft.

Of course, I'll be waiting to the AM guys to start cranking out some sweet resin for both :please:

Would be nice to see the sprues. I'm definitely in for a O-1 Bird Dog right away. Sorry purists, mine will be 16473 Aircraft Gray and not 36473 COIN Gray.

If and when the O-2 comes out and I buy one I will definitely heed advice here and make sure both kit propellers turn. Might even interconnect them with a rubber band, just like the real ones.

Tony, Yup, love to see the sprue shots.

Way back when I was learning to fly out of Zahns Airport, the Army Air Guard was located there. Their main aircraft were Bird Dogs and they were kept pretty darn clean as I remember but that was back when Sky King almost was still roaming the skies.

Well "Big H" say the Bird Dog's on the way, but no indication of when and not yet available for pre-order.  https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/ROD619

Do we have any idea of marking options, other than "A selection of FAC birds"?  It would be nice if they included the unique British-marked example.

It can be put on "back order" with Hannants which is pre-order without a discount. Not sure that is good or bad with regards actual sale price when your card gets debited.

It looks like now the resellers put the new items in advance a time before their real availability...

I've ordered x2 from:

http://armoryhobbyshop.com/

http://modelsua.com/

both located in Ukraine, like Roden.

and nothing move from "processing" or "pending"

but it should not be long...

edit: there is a picture of the 56-2650 in the Squadron/signal book #87, p.33

HLJ website is showing colour schemes and decals http://hlj.com/product/ROD032T619

Interesting two choices. Not what I expected. I'm kinda surprised they picked only a really plain-Jane typical USAF scheme.

I'm impressed that that megahobby place got them so fast. I was leary ordering, figured it was a presale type thing since I never ordered from them but they really did have them in stock all ready. The one I ordered shipped Monday is still taking a tour of the US, went from NJ to PA back to NJ, but it's finally in NC so I should have it in my hands today or tomorrow I imagine. Looking forward to seeing it since it's been so "mysterious" of a release with no details.
