Roy sounds cautiously optimistic, but after the issues with the nose on the Typhoon he remains a bit guarded. Having said that, the issues with the Typhoon nose really aren't that bad.

He knows more about the Whirlwind than any other single person i can think of, and it sounds like he's not involved in the project. He made the CooperDetails Vacform model in 48th many years back so his opinion carries considerable weight with me.

I think whats at the crux of this is, he'd appreciate being consulted so major gaffes could be avoided; i don't think he's out for Glory or Fortune. But that's just a gut feeling.

I think the person with the most knowledge of the Whirlwind at the moment is probably the Swedish (?) guy doing the CAD for the full size replica currently underway in the UK. Unlike all kits to date, he has not interpreted a wing to fuselage fairing, whereas there was none (except at the leading edge). If Special Hobby get this right I will be pretty much a happy chap. I hope Roy would agree. Hopefully Special Hobby have been in contact and are or have co-operated on the design of the kit.

At least you just started!

I went through all of this    http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=6996&hl=whirlwind&page=1  ................  took me approximately 4 1/2 years.

And when I finished, I just knew someone was going to come out with a full kit... even if it was 9 years later.

Ho hum............ what they hell, yep I'll buy one!

Plenty of good marking options for the Seafury, and no doubt we will have a horde of decals released (like above). I have pulled out my long term Fisher Seafury and working on it again, now that I no longer have to contemplate making a silastic copy of the modified fuselage for the other few kits I have. They will be replaced with SH kits when they are released. Good times.

Well...the nose might be a little, wing a touch long, but if it looks pretty much like a Whirlwind, then it's a must have for me. Besides, I will be too busy putting in 4,875 rivets to worry about the shape of the nose.... just kidding of course ! Sorry, but I never have and never will expect any manufacturer to get everything 100% perfect...besides, 100% perfect means different things to different people due to the fact that it is a scale representation of something.

I do wish someone would do a Grumman Duck in 1/32 though..... I really want to model Murphy's version in 1/32 scale !
