Trumpeter Su-25 (Basically Finished - 23/10/16)

Tried something different today in an attempt to show the fibreglass (assumed) cover on the radar equipment. Base coat of the correct colour then two different tones applied "drysponging" dry brushing but with a sponge piece torn off randomly. A blend coat was then applied to tone it down.

Hi Harvy, I decided to just go with the Trumpeter decals for this one, the Linden Hill ones only provide the numbers and squadron flash and it didn't seem worth the money. As such I followed their instructions on the painting guide but with my own colours.

Looks great! The variegated effect on the wing is awesome! How did you do it?

Jim

Black primer with a marbled base colour. A second marbled layer of a similar colour but lighter. Blend coat of the first colour to level it all out. Clear coat was then applied and Ammo PLW was applied all over then removed roughly to leave traces of "dirt" behind.

Getting close to the finish line now, only a few parts left in primer.

I've also attempted to fade my decal with tamiya weathering powder, applied the snow to a wet surface and once dry gently sponged it off to give a random effect.

Whilst I was planning my weathering as well, I noticed that I was missing the 'source' points and it would if looked odd. I couldn't let this go, so I've started to add drainage pipes and plugs with stock plastic and brass. Few more to do on the airframe this week.
