The model parts are washed, dried and are being given a coat of Tamiya fine gray surface primer, then a light coat of Gunze Mr. Surfacer 1500 black. More pics soon! This will be my first all resin kit. I've used plenty of resin parts over the years, but have never built a full resin kit. The Wing Spars on the real Helldiver are integral to the fuselage and fit transversely through the bomb bay, you will see more clearly as I go along. So yes all of that thin pour wafer area gets cleaned out. Not the greatest pic in the world but if you kneel on the ground in the bomb bay and look left and right you will see into the wing and see the spars and fuselage web structure. I'm going to post some macro shots in a minute that will make the rivets look trumpeter sized, they are not, it's lens distortion. They are nice and defined without being overpowering. Very subtle. Anyways, check in on me once in a while make sure I'm still kickin, I'll do the same on the Moskito thread too, in fact I'm over due for a visit. Lens distortion and extreme macro makes the rivets look huge but they are nicely restrained under a coat of Tamiya fine gray surface primer. Inside was shot with Mr Surfacer 1500 over the gray. LSP_Paul Posted July 3, 2016 Author Share Posted July 3, 2016 First color coats. Custom Mix Gunze Interior Green FS 34151 ( scale effect balanced) over Mr Surfacer black 1500. Modulated with an airbrush by building up the color layers. I did this process off and on all day to all of the parts involved with this color that go into the fuselage. It isn't easy being green. Next steps are detail painting and decaling (interior), probably a little wash as needed. I won't be adding the breakable parts like the gun position until much later so there is no chance of damaging them during masking and unmasking when I am able to seal up the interior. I've used the last bit of my Gunze and don't have enough Aeromaster left for a beast this size. Might have to go the Vallejo Air route, as it's readily available and a decent color match.
