Zero77
Incredible.... This is a perfectly smooth finish, and the Trumpeter kit is far from smooth ! The decals are awesome. Did you print them on a specific printer? They seem to have a very high resolution. MikeMaben
MikeMaben
Sure, first I decided to do the project as soon as the -2 was released. I tried to create the Smirnoff logo by hand but wasn't really happy with it. I searched the internet for the logo but only found examples of the newer logo. I finally found a seller on ebay selling magazine covers who had a Life magazine cover with Jane Fonda on the cover and on the inside of that there was a full page ad for Smirnoff with the old logo. I scanned that as a 600dpi .jpg and imported it into Adobe Illustrator 6 which has a very good trace function (which is the reason I bought it). The Bardall and Champion logos were scanned/traced the same way. The reason for doing all that is that vector images have no pixels and are scaleable to any size you want without any pixelization. The numbers were all created from scratch in Illustrator (which was quite a learning curve). I then printed them on an Alps printer that I've had for years. The hardest part of that was getting the gold outline around the Smirnoff logo and the 80 (proof) on the tail. The red and blue stripes on the prop are decals too. Anyway it was fun and quite a learning experience that allowed me to achieve something I wouldn't have been able to otherwise. Thanks for all the comments.
