Swan-neck Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Hello to everyone. I'd like to share with You guys my new Huge project. The Big A-6A from Trumpeter. I'd like to build the same one narrated in the book "Flight of the Intruder" : "Devil 505". This is my aim, now I hope to shoot near the target ^_^ My intent is to build it OOB. Ok, now few presentation photos: I started from engines. Before and after First engine almost finished Than I started to work on the intake!!!! Sand, sand, sand, sand Youngtiger1, Harold, reconspit and 1 other 4
Swan-neck Posted June 8, 2016 Author Posted June 8, 2016 After intake I focused my efforts to the "OFFICE" I used Mr Surfacer 500 on ejection handles to create little texture, like in real. That's all for now my dears. I hope You enjoyed. Ciao Lu Harold, Youngtiger1, DesTROYer and 5 others 8
Bill_S Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Looks fabulous, and great job on the intakes - those things are a bear!
F`s are my favs Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Oh, very nice plane. Graceful plane. Very good so far, btw what`s your intention about the final display - the doors for the engines will be open or the engines will be on a dolly outdoors maybe?
Swan-neck Posted June 8, 2016 Author Posted June 8, 2016 Thank You Bill, for your feedback. I thought to leave One side with engine bay's Doors open and the engine inside it. On the other side (right One) the engine will be visibile on a Dolly or Linked under the wing on a wing pylon. Ciao Lu F`s are my favs 1
Lothar Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Sexiest plane in US inventory EVER - and you do it justice Lothar ziggyfoos and reconspit 2
ziggyfoos Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Excellent start, especially cleaning up the intakes. Plug: I know you said you're basing it off the book, but something from the movie edition may help: http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=62761
Swan-neck Posted June 8, 2016 Author Posted June 8, 2016 Thanks guys for your positive comments. Dear Ziggyfoos, thanks for your help. It is super usefull. For sure I'll buy that decals sheet but I think that the colors of planes are not correct. From several photos I found on web I saw that Intruders of Vietnam era were painted in white ( low surface) and light grey on the upper one. Nose, generaly were black. Said that thanks a lot again. Ciao Lu

Ciao Lu You're referring to the "real" A-6A, in that case I suggest the actual VA-196 markings: http://www.largescaleplanes.com/reviews/review.php?rid=1688 The ones I previously linked to are from the movie, as mentioned they are "fake" schemes and only applicable to movie which were A-6E TRAM backdated to sorta resemble the Vietnam period A-6A. In any case, if you're going with a more historically accurate looking Flight of the Intruder VA-196 scheme, their noses would've been white in 1972. Swan-neck 1

RNoAF Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Did you use the cockpit that came with the kit? Swan-neck 1
Squizzy 78 Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Those intakes look awesome, and the different shading with metalisers on the engine exhaust looks extremely realistic. I can't wait to see more of this level of work. Swan-neck 1
