mozart
Thank you all, busy times right now so once again modelling time is scarce but tomorrow looks more promising. I'm looking forward to doing the wings using the same technique, the underlying rib structure was very distinctive on the fabric covered wings. Other areas like the aft engine nacelles need more planning and thought to achieve the desired effect. More soon I hope! mozart
A cancelled golf match (it's too hot anyway!) has given me an unexpected day's modelling . I've been doing some work with the starboard wing, lots of sanding and adding internal ribs for strength etc. It's glued together quite well, I've given it an initial coat of primer to highlight blemishes, areas for filling etc so the next job will be to do the ribbing as shown in the drawings. These are the Warpaint ones by Mike Keep which I scan as required and enlarge to 1/32nd scale: Eagle eyes amongst you may notice that there's a mismatch in the length of aileron between the drawing and my wing. This is because the early Ansons had long-span ailerons as shown in the drawing but later and subsequent ones had short-span ailerons. On with the masking........ mozart
Keep going Max...deadline's around the corner! Oh there's absolutely no chance of making the deadline Shaka, not even contemplating it. I hope to take it, in whatever form it is, to IPMS Telford but there's so much to do still including a completely scratch-built undercarriage. Small steps and all that... I'd love to see this at Telford - there's nothing like seeing projects like this in the flesh to appreciate the amount of work involved. mozart
Fingers crossed for Telford Tom. I'd appreciate your advice regarding the fluted/ribbed part of the aft nacelles, the ribs converging to a point. Any thoughts about a good way to replicate this.....I've a few ideas but not sure which to try first! Guest Peterpools
Max Nice progress and a build is always an accumulation of little steps. Very interesting note on the aileron length Keep 'em coming Peter
BloorwestSiR
Lovely work Max. For the nacelles, maybe use some very fine masking tape to mark out the low points. This way you can overlap them at the aft end. Then spray Mr Surfacer over top and build it up a bit. After you remove the tape, the Mr Surfacer hopefully will replicate the ribs. Aizu tape is available in 0.4mm widths. If you need some, let me know. Carl mozart
