peter, are each of those brass micro bolts commercially bought or made by yourself?

Hi Rich - they are from Scale Hardware - not cheap (plus I got dinged by Royal Mail for £22 customs on my last order.. :fight:   ) but the only way in the bigger scales

Pure sex . I really don't know what else to say Peter. Of course I saw your Tigercat project and got inspired by your fantastic work on the Sea Fury, but this is getting to the point of complete obsession with realistic detail . I am pretty sure that your next project will be 1:1 scale flying replica of space shuttle . Just as Wolf mentioned in the post before, you are the Q-man. Thank you for sharing.

Cheers

Martin

Few years back I had a chance to have a closer look at TZ 138 in Richmond BC. Wrong colours ( interior is actually in medium grey ), misplaced roundels , but still very racey :)

evening folks :)

thanks for stopping by and checking in - there are some incredible builds going on at the moment so motivation is high :)

so what's been going on in Spitfireland for the last few days...

I pretty much finished up Frame 11 - this is the main bulkhead the seat mounts to..

I started with the seat mounts themselves at the bottom of the bulkhead, these are just folded & punched plates with holes in that the seat assembly sit in just like the real one...

on the upper crossmember the triagular widgetty things are the upper seat mounts and a sprung pin locates the whole thing each side..

and with the seat in place..

..next the rollover/headrest - these were laminated from PE parts and some card to make two of them. Then between them there are some parts to space them apart - it took me a while to figure out the best way to do it as I wanted the bolts to go through both...

the one on the left has been cut about a bit at the bottom so it slides over the frame 11 bulkhead for a seamless fit..

..and fixed in place on the bulkhead..

..a dry fit of all the frame 11 parts..

..next, I need a cockpit to put it in, so cut some sheet to fit the cockpit 'pod' I hacked out of the airframe and rolled it to give it some shape..

..I will basically build on this and fit it when complete - then slide the pod into place (in theory..)

..I built a card jig to hold it in shape and protect the fragile sheet and marked out key structural elements - this is the canvas for a few weeks work...

hope you are having fun :)

I'm having fun just watching you.  How you create such perfect sub-assemblies out of real metal is beyond me.  It's an honor to witness modeling at it's very highest level and your new camera brings it all to life on our screens.
