Was able to shape and polish one side of filler sheets this morning, need to glue up the other side now.

Spent a good deal of time at the bench, nothing exciting to see but time consuming (and scary) work has been done.

 

The forward cockpit opening was wrong under the windscreen, there should be no over hang.

Due to the massive size of the fuselage, the George had a skylight in the turtle deck to provide light for maintenance, Had to open it up.

While I was making holes in the fuse, I opened up the accessory bay  vents:

Then, after shaping both the fill blocks for the canopy trenches, I mean rails..... I had to scribe in the guide slot.

Last thing to do was to narrow the sills, before (top), after (bottom)

Thank god the plastic in this kit is as thick as it is!

Leaves a lot of room to re-shape and still have strength.

Its actually quite good, reacts well to liquid cement, has some flex but is firm and strong.

while I didn't get ALL the painting done, I did get all the scratch work done on the sides

shot it in German Grey Primer and started picking out highlights and mid tones

Now to start washes, detail painting and weathering.

 

Im off on a biz trip to Baltimore for most of the week, ao i will get back to it later this week/next weekend.
