Brand new kit by Wingnut Wings, consisting of 156 Plastic parts incl. the Hazet-Kcoolers. Optional propellers, exhaust spoke wheels with PE-parts, or covered ones. All together the kit includes 13 PE-parts. Engine Daimler-Mercedes 100hp D.1 or 120hp D.II is possible. Furthermore high quality decals for 5 different airplanes. For the first time Wingnut Wings includes wonderful wood decals which are (in my eyes) better then the ones by Uschi v.d.R. But we will see that later. LET's GO: First of all, a layer of light beige on all wooden interior parts, then the wooden optic will be done with pol colors (burned Umbra, Dark Sienna) and a brush. Later a layer of clear orange will follow, then all the details brush painted... Now all parts have to dry some time ..... before we could go on. In the meantime I will start with the engine... The photo etched seat belts were annealed on a flame, painted in beige and silver, then glued to the seats and formed. Oil color washing (brown) followes. The steering wheel was reworked with tape stripes, then painted black, also washed with oil colors. Next step, some rigging inside .... The engine parts were colored, the silver ones polished with metal powder. The brass and copper parts painted with AK Interactive's metal colors. Bruce Hunt Posted January 12, 2016 Share Posted January 12, 2016 Very helpful and exciting to see yours coming along. I've started mine and confess to using your build to guide me. A couple of things I have noted with my build so far: That front bulkhead is supposed to slant backward, more than the tab an slot will allow. You'll see when you mate it to the fuselage. I cut the slot away completely and glued directly to the floorboard. The cabane structure has two pullies on the bottom for the rudder cables. elmarriachi Posted January 13, 2016 Author Share Posted January 13, 2016 *** UPDATE *** Thin plastic strips, cut in very short parts are used as the sparking plugs, glued to the engine, painted in silver. Thin wire is used for the wiring of the engine... painting follows later. In the meantime the interior is glued inside the hull. Fitting was very well I think... no problems. Then I have sprayed a light beige on it.... as a base for the decals. It is the first Wingnut Wings kit which includes the wooden decals already. I wanted to try these .... the fitting is also fantastic, the wooden optic as well. I only want to give them a more brownish optic later, which I will make with oil colors again. Next step will be a layer of clear coat, then brown / redbrown / grey oil colors for the final color of the wooden optic, then clear coat, then painting of the grey/green metal parts, then decals (markings, stripes, ...) then clear coat again ... The wooden fusealge with the wooden decals from Wingnut Wings .... ... and the same after working with some kind of oil colors. Then the engine was installed inside the fuselage and the coolers added on the outside, with some first parts of the pipes.......
