A-4E Skyhawk Aggressor (Trumpeter A-4F kit - 1/32)

A small update: today I was able to break away and get some work done on my A-4!

I began by preparing the cockpit sidewalls and cockpit tub.

I am almost finished preparing the main wings: the wing leading edge light was installed, and the cannon shrouds were filled in and sanded to shape. The Aggressor version of the A-4E had the main cannon removed and the shroud flaired over as well as the cannon ejection ports on the underside.

I decided to glue the midwing hard points to the wing.

A quick test fit of the stores.... Two fuel tanks and the scratch built ACMI pod!! :)

I finished up the rear details for the elevator/horizontal stabilizer and glued the airbrakes in. I won't be displaying them open!! ;)

A quick peak of the bird! Coming along nicely! A very enjoyable kit!

Hello gentlemen! Thanks for the generous compliments! I am really enjoying the kit so far... a few things Trumpeter could have done better, but overall she is a great kit! I always liked the A-4!!

Mark: those are the kit parts... they are just in Tamiya primer...

Starfighter: you are correct - very rarely were the Aggressors with tanks; I saw a photo once of one Aggressor that must have flown cross country for a deployment (exercise) and it had two tanks slung on the hard points! I think it breaks up the lines nicely on the final display!

Cheers and happy modelling!

Small update: I've gone ahead and ordered some Photo Etch (PE) direct from Eduard:

Eduard 32783 A-4E/F Escapac seatbelts etc.

Eduard 32345 A-4E/F Slats.

I really want to dress up the ejection seat and to replace the ugly little stubby vortex generators that are on the upper wings and leading edge slats...

Until then... I'll just putt away at a few small little jobs!

Cheers and thanks again to everybody for checking in on my progress!
