tucohoward
The list is long, Shaka. The 109 fixation is just one of many to make it on there. Basic painting is done. Mr. Color paint over Mr. Surfacer 1500 Black, except for the RLM 83 which is Mr. Paint. First experience with Mr. Paint and it was great. No thinning, just shake, pour, spray. That's enough for tonight. Jay XOPCT, The1971Show and mpk

tucohoward
Thanks, Kev! Today I have been working on the markings. All masked and painted at this point. A combination of Montex, Maketar and my own masks. Starting to get a little character. I liked this scheme as soon as I saw it so it's fun trying to replicate it. mpk
Thanks Brian! It's kind of embarrassing now that you made me count them. 15 1/32 109's plus another 5 in 1/48, and yes the display case is just about all 109's. I can't get enough. Oh, and another 25 or so in the stash. Jay Hi Jay. Your 109 looks awesome mate. I have always loved the 109 as well. I think I built more 109's than any other type. Plus it's a very important type. Does any other aircraft have a history similar in so far as kills are concerned? I doubt anything else would come close. JG52 has something like 12,000+ kills? JG54 has 10,000+. That's just 2 wings. Although 54 also had the 190. What I do know for sure is that I have derived much inspiration from your work. I now have the Airscale Luftwaffe cockpit placards. Have you ever used these in any of your 109 builds? tucohoward and Anthony in NZ
tucohoward
Thanks, Dale! Yes, I do use Airscale decals on just about every build. The placards are very handy for dressing things up a bit. For the instrument dials I use the 1/48 scale sets as the 1/32 ones are too large for a 109. MikeMaben
I liked this scheme as soon as I saw it so it's fun trying to replicate it. You're doing a fine job of that Jay. mpk and tucohoward
tucohoward
Thanks, Mike. Managed a little time this weekend to finish up the painted on markings and throw on a few decals. Acrylic flat coat on so the weathering can begin. Jay Edited December 26, 2016 by tucohoward MikeMaben, Anthony in NZ, mpk and 2 others
LSP_Kevin
That is lovely, Jay! I've always liked those late-war Luftwaffe camouflage schemes. Kev tucohoward and mpk
tucohoward
Thanks, Kev! Today I have been playing around with my version of dot-filtering. More of a wash and filter as I start out with dots and end up covering everything and then removing and blending until happy. Done with various colors of Abteilung 502 oils and Turpenoid. This particular aircraft was very dirty so I have a ways to go yet. Jay XOPCT, mywifehatesmodels, Anthony in NZ and 5 others
Anthony in NZ
Wonderful job on this. Not normally a 109 man.....but this one compelled me to say something! Wonderful scheme and finish...worn but not worn out and well executed sheen. Cheers Anthony tucohoward and mpk
Troy Molitor
A former II. JG-51 bird taken over by the II.JG-52. Repainted in several areas over. Well used, mud spattered. You have to love painting late war Bf-109G-10's. A complete canvas to use in your arsenal. Looks awesome Jay. More pictures please. Well done. Love it. mattlow
Jay Another lovely 109... nice choice of subject as well. Can I ask how you masked the 'wavy line' of the wing leading edge? Matt tucohoward and mpk
tucohoward
Thanks fellows! Matt, I just draw a wavy line on a strip of Tamiya masking tape and then cut it with an Xacto knife. Then I have a mask for each wing. Jay mpk

tucohoward
Thanks guys! A little more weathering with the addition of exhaust stains, and the exhaust, Quickboost in this case. Also have painted the BarracudaCast spinner. Jay Fooesboy, Pfuf, mpk and 7 others
