Cheers Jim The clear is really really thinned out Tamiya clear...as the finnish is more semigloss/semiflat.....many many thin layers so it gets semigloss/flat....due the previous color flat/gloss Retarder is used alot on this build....as paint is very diluted and with retarder...takes time yes...but pays of...many thin layers As this way of painting a model and with postshade is a first timer for me....and hell i do it again LoL... Diluted thin coats are like 5-10 sometimes even more...it is so thin.....it got some benefit by doing so..... Ratios with clear is like 2 to 10.... Edited my own writing here... Il2...never built any russian aircraft before...weird cockpit colors and camo....alot to interpret....that suits me for shure .... Or another BF109E, or Fw190 (converting again another Sturmbock).....hmmmm Brewster Buffalo is close too....dunno... Or a A6M5/A6M2....P51? Got a few in the stash lol.. Ill see what i will do...P39 with russian markings...interesting. Also the IL2 but the one i got is ground attack.... But got other candidates in the stash...ill see... Checking out the stock for the base... Ikea LP frame...perfect for me...neat and clean black alu metal frame...and glass with masonite olywood on the back. Photoetched tiedowns..... And light coloresd mahagony planks... Hmmmm..yaikes...thought i had more in stock....scratching my head...i wont cover 1/3 of the base with this amount.... Idea would to make the deck lift edge closer....but after examined photos...entire deck is covered....even the lifts....... Only solution is to restock if going to finnish this in Mals Way...... Now research...and i shure need help from you guys here on LSP...links...photos...blueprints... Anything....as im going to do a diobase...more challenging than ive done before, new things to do...and yes new experiance and helluva fun.... The idea is a part of the carrier deck and lift edge, the lift is lowered a bit, so details under the deck is seen...sounds interesting...fot me it shure does... Example roughly and experimenting with mockup pieces.... The gap....idea all between 2-5cm.
