Trumpy A-6E TRAM Intruder - "Raygun 501"

I didn't want to do this. I was hoping I wouldn't have to. But alas...the Intruder is going on ice until the fall.

The reason? Spiders. Little eight-legged a-holes who for some reason delight in spraying their butt threads all over the bench and anything on it. Last night, I got to spend 45 minutes clearing webbing off of the Intruder's cockpit. The night before it was the bombs and landing gear bits. The night before, the fuselage halves.

It's not a big deal when I can stash a build away in a drawer overnight, but the Intruder is too big for that. And like the B-25 a few years ago, it's running into the exact same spider problem (I had to put the Mitchell away after spiders set up shop in the bomb bay). So I'm going to apply the same solution - stop fighting it and put the thing away until cooler weather.

So, why not use the opportunity to do a SUPER CLEANING of the man cave, and call in the exterminator?   I hate bloody spiders, and would have to tear things apart to find out where they were getting in from.

Other than the obvious supreme PITA of clearing things out, they surely must be getting in somewhere?   Exterminator surly should be able to prevent them from coming back so you can model?

My bench is in the garage. I'm fairly sure they're coming in from the giant door...

Ah HA!   Well solution is simple then. Just let the Mrs know your commandeering a space inside the house, as your tired of getting your hobby projects covered in arachnid butt threads.

I'd love to pull the legs of these critters one by one with a satanic smile on my face :fight:, simply because now I have to wait

another 6 months for one of my favourite WIPs to reappear - and at my age things can happen you know

It'd be a challenge with these particular spiders. They're only about the size of a grain of salt. The bigger ones don't bother me since they usually tend to stay away from the bench.

Matt  We had kind of the same problem. Are the a red little ones or gray.  Try putting one of these around you desk. It will drive them off for awhile do to the size of a garage. Or ask a good Mom and Pop pet store with Birds and Reptiles!!!

They're reddish - more brown-red than red-red.

Yeah I've been using diatomaceous earth...and it definitely helps to a degree. But only to things on the ground, and a big part of the problem is the garage light and the third bay door opener both more or less right over the bench. They get all crazy up there, and then move their way down.
