Yak-18 Bed Check Charlie 59: Done!

Here is the project summary, which I'd like to do from now on at the end of each build.

Project%20Summary%20-%20Yak-18_zpsbgktcs

Kit was built more or less out-of-the-box.

Nice kit of a relatively obscure (and rather homely looking) aircraft.

The only issues of substance are:

  • the angle of the landing gear, which is easily corrected
  • the vinyl tires
  • poor fitting clear cover for landing light
  • mold seams on windshield
  • Not enough North Korean insignia supplied in the kit (only 2, really needs 4)

Minor issues that are not really noticeable include:

  • sharp edge along the bottom rear of the fuselage
  • lack of ribbing on the underside
  • dimensions of the rear canopy appear to be slightly off (too long)
  • lack of detail on the main wheel rims

Thanks for looking as always!

Kai

Glad to hear you're alive and well Kai, We checked all the jails in Tijuana, no sign of you there, we checked all the cat houses in Northern Nevada, no sign of you there( but we did have a hell of time getting Harv to leave when we did) We  were about to start calling hospitals.

 All the best.

I was surprised Harv didn't check the circus....you know how he is about midgets.

Kai, this is by far, my favorite build in the last 2 years, by anyone, period. I absolutely love this build. You can't help grin at the thought of Washing Machine Charlie, although he was a big annoyance at the time.

We really need more of these offbeat, semi fun builds of sorta humorous subjects. Now we need a PO.2 for the other Bed Check mobile.

THIS is why I love this hobby. Bringing back parts of history that have been long forgotten.

I hear ya Ernie- I love telling the story that goes with the build, and for me it's the bigger part of the hobby.

Thanks buddy!
